Not too far away from Mumbai, lies the beach town of Guhagar in the Konkan region. Guhagar situated 280 km away from Mumbai, like the rest of Konkan is famous for its beach, coconuts and alphonso mangoes. However today we explore a new side to this small town, staying on the lake side at Shantai by the Lake.

Shantai by the Lake is a very different stay in Konkan. A tranquil stay amidst nature that exudes old world charm in a landscaped garden setting. The resort has a multi layered pool overlooking the lake. There are separate sections for kids pool, main pool and the Jacuzzi area. A beautiful amphitheatre just by the lake is an ideal venue for small events and live performances. There is abundant greenery and flora to rejuvenate your senses. San-Shan a lake view lounge and mini theatre offers the opportunity to spend some time just relaxing with near ones watching a movie or doing nothing at all.
Shantai by the Lake has a multi cuisine restaurant which serves the best of local delicacies too. All the food here is made from fresh organic produce sourced locally.
A bar and spa with state of the art facilities will be the new additions to the resort’s amenities.
You have the option of staying in garden cottages which are named after the flowers found in the garden of the resort like Rose, Jai, Mogra etc. These are AC cottages nestled among the trees.
Lakeside Estate has rooms named after flowers again that offer scenic views of the picturesque lake.
There is a villa which can house upto 16 guests. These are non AC accommodation for groups of travellers.
For a more luxurious stay, you can stay in the suites one of which has an open private terrace to let you enjoy the beauty of the place in totality.
Guhagar beach is located just 5 km away from the resort. The unexplored beaches of Guhagar with golden sands and crystal clear lagoons are an ideal getaway from the crowded urban region. Velneshwar beach which is around 15km away is another scenic beach with soft white sands and surrounded by coconut trees. The Velneshwar and the Vyadeshwar Temples are beautiful temples devoted to Lord Shiva. Velneshwar is beautifully located close to the beach.
Also in close vicinity at a few kilometeres distance are other places to visit including Takleshwar temple and lighthouse, Hedavi beach and temple, Dashabhuja Ganesh Temple and Gopalgad Fort.
Guhagar is situated at a drive of around 6 hours from Mumbai and falls in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra.
