Palakkad which was early known as Palghat, is a large town situated in the state of Kerala. It is a land with misty monuments with the ever green tropical forests, dams, wild life sanctuaries, rare birds, animals , rivers and various other things which makes this place a famous tourist destination.  You have a choice of National parks to visit at Palakkad. The Silent Valley National Park considered India's last area of tropical evergreen rain forest.

The park is called Silent Valley because the loud calls of Cicadas heard elsewhere in this region are not heard here. Silent Valley has an amazing range of wildlife. The Parambikulam National Park is well known for India’s most prominent mammals, animals and birds. It is home to a large number of Indian Bisons.

This district has glorious cultural tradition. It is said that the father of the Malayalam Literature, Thunchathu Ramanujan Ezhuthachan spent his last days in Chittur, the most popular poet of Malayalam was also born in a small village of this district.
