This week we are going to see 5 different types of bird sanctuary in India starting with:
Thattekad Bird Sanctuary: The sanctuary is situated in the northern side of the Periyar River in Kothamangalam taluk kerala. It is the one of the prominent sanctuaries and picnic spot in Kerala. This sanctuary is fully covered with thick deciduous forest, cultivation of teak and rosewood also for about 25 km. It is the heavenly place for the birds and for birds’ lover also. The rare varieties of birds seen at Thattekad Bird Sanctuary are rose-billed Roller, Black Winged Kite, Hornbill, Bee-eater, Night Heron, Malabar grey hornbill, Jungle Fowl, white-breasted water hen, jungle myna, egret, Grey Heron, Falcon Grey, Ceylon Frogmouth and many more. Over 500 types of local and migratory birds are seen here. It also holds more than 28 types of wild animals and 9 types of reptiles in the forest. It is the residence for both flora and fauna. Here you can see rare varieties of flowers and medicinal plants are seen here. And large number of rosewood, Venga, Teak wood, Venteak and mahogany are planted here.
